Commercial and Marketing Activities
The
Association through FETA is the founder and sponsor of the UK national
exhibitions formerly known as HEVAC International and latterly as the
H&V and RAC shows which provide the major UK shop window for HV and
AC products.
Members
are assisted in exporting their products through Joint Overseas Ventures
and Outward Missions organised in conjunction with the Department of Trade
and Industry.
Regular
Newsletters are published to provide Members with information on export
and other marketing opportunities and activities.
Seminars
and Conferences are organised regularly to promote marketing opportunities
and to acquaint members with developments in legislation, commercial and
financial matters.
HEVAC
Association works closely with the European Trade Associations and with
other Associations throughout the world to promote heating, ventilating
and air conditioning and improve standards.
The
Association publishes a great deal of commercial literature which promotes
the industry and members' products.
Technical Activities
Association
members exert considerable influence over the national and international
standards to which the HVAC industry operates through representation on
over 50 BSI Standards Committees and in many European organisations and
Standards Committees.
The
Association actively promotes Quality Assurance and advises and assists
members to obtain registration under Quality Assurance Schemes developed
by the Association for the industry.
Technical
Newsletters are published frequently to keep members abreast of developments
in the industry and the Association publishes technical documents, many
of which have become standard reference documents for the industry.
Research
and development, carried out for Members on a group basis, has been instrumental
in improving the performance and efficiency of installed HVAC plant and
equipment.
Operational Structure of HEVAC
The
HEVAC Association is a federation of autonomous product groups and affiliated
associations.
The
Associations activities and policies are controlled through an elected
Council and a President elected by the members every two years.
The
Co-ordination of activities within the Council policies is the responsibility
of the Director General and the central administration staff. The services
provided have been expanded in recent times by the establishment of Commercial,
technical and Project Departments at Headquarters with their own Managers.
Each
Product Group or Association is responsible for technical matters and
for nominating delegates to standards writing bodies such as BSI and CEN.
A central committee monitors compatibility of interests where products
overlap.
The
Commercial Marketing Services Committee act in matters such as exports,
trading conditions, exhibitions, trade missions, publicity, conferences,
seminars, statistics and membership.
The
Association maintains close ties with the British Refrigeration Association
and the British Flue & Chimney Manufacturers' Association through
the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations.
