About HPA | Members | Newsletters & Downloads Association Information | How do I join? The UK Network on Heat PumpsAn information and collaboration network on heat pumps was officially launched on Wednesday 7th July at a seminar in London. Through support and funding from DETR, DTI, the Heat Pump Association and the wider industry, the Network will help & encourage the UK heat pump market to develop according to 'best practice' on environmental and economic grounds. All those active and interested in heat pump technologies, including industrial and buildings-related applications are invited to participate. The Network will help participantsto share information and best practice, co-ordinate collaborative projects and get the most out of the recently announced UK membership of the IEA Heat Pump Centre in the Netherlands. A Network secretariat will organise six-monthly workshops and newsletters, and co-ordinate the activities. Objectives of the Network
Scope of the Network The Network will have benefits wherever heat pump technology can be used for heating and cooling of buildings, and for heat recovery for industrial & buildings applications. There will also be significant spin-off benefits in the general area of refrigeration. This is because heat pumps use refrigeration technology, but use the rejected heat rather than the cold created. There are therefore many technical and market problems common to both heat pumps and refrigeration (for example, choice of refrigerants, design of heat exchangers, training of installers, etc.) Target Participants/Audience for the Network Two primary audiences:
Secondary audience, not directly targeted but borne in mind when preparing products: For more information: Find out more on Heat Pumps at the Heat Pump Centre website, www.heatpumpcentre.org, the Heat Pump Association on this website or via the European Heat Pump Network at www.fiz-karlsruhe.de/hpn/hpn.html. Heat Pumps on the WebVisit the IEA Heat Pump Centre site at www.heatpumpcentre.org The IEA Heat Pump Centre (HPC) is an independent international information centre on heat pumps and related technologies such as air conditioning and refrigeration. A non-profit organisation funded by its member countries, the HPC offers a wide range of information services to support the development and use of energy-efficient and environmentally beneficial heat pumping equipment. The HPC operates under the umbrella of the International Energy Agency www.iea.org (IEA) and is the focal point of the IEA Heat Pump Programme - a wider organisation under which countries collaborate on projects in the field of heat pumping technologies. Heat Pump Network site at www.heatpumpnet.org.uk The UK Heat Pump Network was launched in July 1999 to help the UK heat pump market develop according to best practice on environmental and economic grounds. Through the UK Network, Government is working in partnership with manufacturers, specifiers, and user groups to develop independent and authoritative advice on the application and use of heat pumps. Government backing is via the DTI and DETR, with industrial support via the Heat Pump Association. The UK Network provides information of benefit to manufacturers, suppliers, importers, utilities, researchers, architects and consultants/specifiers, wherever heat pump technology can be used for heating and/or cooling of buildings and for heat recovery for industrial and buildings applications. European Heat Pump Association www.ehpa.org The European Heat Pump Association, founded in February 2000, is a not-for-profit organisation which promotes awareness and proper deployment of heat pump technology in the European market place for residential, commercial and industrial applications. The Association is open to all legally constituted organisations in the European Union that have an involvement, or interest, in heat pumping technology. Organisations in the European Free Trade Association and aspirant states to the European Union may become associate members. The website and database of the European Heat Pump Network (EHPN) are essential results of the two THERMIE projects "European Network on Heat Pumping Technologies" and "Concerted Actions for the Promotion of Heat Pumps in Europe". These projects were mainly aimed at supporting the market penetration by dissemination of information on nearly all aspects of the heat pump technology. The EHPA web site
