BRA Aims & Objectives | Benefits of Membership The British Refrigeration Association (B.R.A.) is the only trade association representing manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, distributors, contractors, specifiers and end-users of refrigeration plant, equipment and components. It also includes producers of refrigerants and lubricants, colleges and training establishments. It works closely with government, public bodies and other organisations, both in the UK and overseas, to further the interests of the refrigeration industry. BRA was originally formed in 1940 under the name "Commercial Electric Refrigeration Association". It has worked continuously since 1940, as C.E.R.A., B.R.A., B.R.A.C.A and now again B.R.A. to promote the interests of the Refrigeration Industry. Membership is open to European registered companies who are wholly or partly engaged in, or associated with, the refrigeration industry. NEW - Global HVAC&R Industry Survey on Natural Refrigerants - 11 July 2011 This HVAC&R industry survey is the first one about the global market for Natural Refrigerants (carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrocarbons) in different applications. The results will be published in a "guide to natural refrigerants" in Autumn 2011. More details and a link to the survey on the BRA Hot Topics page. NEW - Code of Conduct for Carbon Reduction in the Retail Sector REFRIGERATION ROAD MAP - An action plan for the retail sector (CTG021) - 12 July 2010 Produced in conjunction with the Carbon Trust, this Refrigeration Road Map introduces the main energy saving opportunities for refrigeration use in the retail sector and demonstrates how simple actions save energy use, cut costs and increase profit margins. Freely downloadable from the Carbon Trust website. Members of BRA can download the Roadmap from the members area (requires your FETA username and password) Sections within BRA BRA conducts the majority of its business within specialist sections. These sections meet 3 or 4 times a year, and they deal with issues and topics that directly affect their businesses. As well as the more formal part of the meeting, members find the informal networking over lunch to be an invaluable benefit of membership. The sections within BRA are:
